Jane was a primary school teacher in remote Northern Territory schools before returning to Geelong to work on literacy programs for young adults. She taught ESL to adults — Jane has a graduate diploma in Literacy Education.
A change of career then saw her as a bookseller for over 20 years.
Jane was a judge for the CBCA Book of the Year Awards for three years and has a passion for all areas of literature.

Alan has a wide general knowledge and a keen interest in words and their origins.

Alan’s professional working life was 18 years in a public library and 22 years at the Mitchell Library, State Library of New South Wales, where he assessed and collected offers of original materials (letters, manuscripts, diaries, photographs, etc) for the research collections. He now assists his wife, former publisher Cathie Tasker, in her freelance business of creative writing teacher and structural editor.
